Hello! Welcom in to All Things Radio podcast 216!
Jeff’s radio news segment talks about broadcasting from a national perspective. He’ll talk about format changes in San Diego, Phoenix, and Salt Lake City. We’ll take a look at what’s happening on the street, and a final look at the July Personal People Meter.
Jenny’s call letter and format changes for this week has lots of stations that were silent or were listed as unavailable signing on with new formats.
Walt’s Retro Radio features first, by listener request, an aircheck from 1988 of country music station WCMS in Norfolk, Virginia.
Walt also features an aircheck of WINW, Canton Ohio. Which was a pretty successful top 40 radio station. Even though it was located at 1520 on the AM dial, had only 1000 watts, and was required to sign off at sunset.
Bill’s marketscope this week takes a listen to Detroit’s newest FM sports radio station, WMGC 105.1. This station features ESPN radio network, with some Live Local talk. Curtesy of Radioinsight.com and formatchange.com we get to hear the station make the format change. I believe you will find this interesting.
Jeff’s featured stations this week are country stations WKLB in Boston, Massachusetts and WXTU in Philadelphia Pennsylvania.
